Sinner, 23, turned pro in 2018 and claimed the Australian Open in his fifth attempt last year. After conquering defending champion Novak Djokovic in the semi-final, the fourth seed fought back from a two-set down to beat Daniil Medvedev 3-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3 in the final for his first Grand Slam title.
In the process, he became the first Italian to win the Australian Open and also the second male from the country in the Open Era to win a singles Major. He added another Major, at the US Open the same and sits atop the ATP rankings. He is in the middle of a 14-match winning streak.
Jarry is a veteran of the tour. The 29-year-old Chilean was seeded 18th at last year’s Australian Open but lost to Italian Flavio Cobolli in the opening round. Currently ranked 34th, he was only two spots from being seeded in the season-opening Slam. He is a two-time Major quarter-finalist, at the French Open and the US Open, both in 2018.
